Slipped out to the bins, snapped the key, lost the lot on a night out — it happens. I pick, bypass or manipulate the lock open where I can, and only drill as a last resort with your say-so. If a cylinder does have to come out, a like-for-like replacement goes back in the same visit so you're not sat behind a broken door.
