Who this is

VEIL Detail, a small trade based in Colchester, Essex. You can reach me at info@veildetail.co.uk or on WhatsApp at 07785 616773.

What I keep

Only what you send me when you get in touch or book something:

• your phone number and name, if you give it
• the messages and photos you send
• your address, if the job is at your place
• a note of the job itself: what it was, when, and what you paid

Why

To reply to you, work out what's wrong and what it'd cost, and do the job. The legal basis is that you've asked me to, which UK data protection law calls taking steps towards a contract. Basic job records are kept because the taxman requires them.

Your devices

If you hand over a phone, laptop or PC, I don't go through what's on it. If a repair needs something checked while it's switched on or signed in, I'll ask you to do that part. If you want it wiped, it gets done while you watch.

How long

Messages about jobs that didn't go ahead are cleared out when they're no longer needed. Records of jobs that did go ahead are kept for up to six years, for tax.

Who else sees it

Nobody I sell or pass it to. Messages sit with WhatsApp or your phone network, and email sits with Google, because that's what the messages travel through.

This website

No cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which handles visitor IP addresses to keep the site running and protected. The fonts load from Google Fonts, which also sees your IP address when they load.

Your rights

You can ask what I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, unless it's a job record I have to keep for tax. Just message or email. If you're not happy with how I've handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
