Swirl marks aren't caused by washing — they're caused by washing badly. Those spider-web scratches you see under sunlight come from dragging grit across the paint: dirty sponges, single buckets, circular scrubbing. Here's the exact method our detailers use, free and complete. No email wall — that's the point.
Hot paint flash-dries product and water, leaving spots and streaks. Early morning or shade — always.
A thorough rinse floats away loose grit before anything touches the paint. Gravity is your friend — start at the roof.
Cover the car in thick foam and give it 3–5 minutes to soften and lift road film. Don't let it dry on.
Everything the foam loosened goes down the drain now — not into your wash mitt.
One bucket of shampoo suds, one of plain rinse water — with grit guards if you have them. This single habit prevents most swirls.
Roof, glass, upper panels, then lower panels last (they're filthiest). Straight lines, light pressure — never circles, never scrubbing.
Panel done → mitt into the rinse bucket, agitate against the grit guard, reload with suds. Grit stays in the bucket, not on your paint.
Take the nozzle off the hose and let water flow gently across the panels. Most of it sheets off, halving your drying work.
A plush drying towel, laid on and pulled — not rubbed. If you can, a blower for mirrors, grilles and badges beats any towel.
A light mist and buff adds slickness and gloss, and makes next week's wash easier. That's the whole game — protection compounds.
